Santiago is a beautiful country. This was my
second TV show.... Medio Mundo.. and I was very nervous because I really did not have an
act. I got the job on the strength of the unusual nature of what I was doing... putting
people inside large bubbles. The show went well and I was able to relax and enjoy the
city. In 1986, the economy was bad. Huge shopping centers were empty.... vacant stores, no
people. School groups marched down the streets openly singing anti-government songs. The
military was everywhere. I once tried to take a picture of a government building. As I
brought my camera up to my eye, six soldiers within my view slowly raised their machine
guns and pointed them at me. My taxi driver screamed at me to drop my camera.... advice
which I quickly followed! |
