This is a brief journal of my experiences on Easter Island over Labor Day weekend in 1997. It is not meant to be complete nor is it necessarily accurate in its description of the history of the island.

When I arrived at the airport I was greeted by a host of islanders who wanted to book me into their guest houses. They all had notebooks with pictures of what coud only be considered sparse accomodations. I selected a place for $25 per day which included breakfast. The rate card described the place as "Chez Guess House Cecilia"... I couldn't resist....I got to my new home within minutes.

I had a whole house to myself with two beds, a bath, dining room and a living room. The lady of the house was Cecilia Guldman. Her husband lives elsewhere but Cecilia explained to me, very definitely, that it was
all right with her. Her children Vairona, 14, and Taniera, 7, were delightful and quite friendly when they found out I was Professor Bubbles.
