Easter Island

Here are Victor and his wife, Roziereire and his one month old son Hau Oteragi Ika. Roziereire is from Brazil. Victor is the grandson of the last king of Easter Island and one day may become the new king. The island's tribes were divided into long ears, intellectuals/rulers and short ears who were workers/slaves. All the moai are long ears, as is Victor. He explains that short ears are wild and uncontrolled. Long ears have complete control of their sexual and spiritual energy. Proudly, Victor explained to me that, exercising this mental control, he never touched his wife during the first four years of their marriage. One year ago the couple decided to have children. The couple met while studying in Italy.
Victor took me, on my last day, to a special "favorite" place of his... the cave with two windows. In the middle of a field we found a hole and climbed down through a two foot opening. The cave was very wet. We crawled for twenty five feet and then were able to stand in a large cave which had two holes at the far end. I couldn't believe it... they opened onto the side of a cliff over the ocean... a 1000 foot drop to the sea. Victor told me that this was the land of his tribe. "I tell the spirits that I am IKA, grandson of the great king Miru and they say it is good and they will protect me."
